1. Introduction to opportunity or problem statement for Newcastle Football club

The game of football is quite famous in England which is a part of Europe. From the every part of Europe, visitors come across the grounds to see their favorite players perform well in the matches and as such, large number of people likes to watch football matches and cheer up their favorite players. In the football club, players are purchased and higher amount of fees are paid to them so that they perform well in the ground. Out of the players purchased by Newcastle United Football Club, some of them play well while other fail to perform well (Geppert, 2018). Thus, it is required to pay fees to players as per their individual performance and as such, club can maintain its costs in a better way. In relation to this, it is required to keep close watch and track performances so that adequate fees can be paid. It can be analyzed that as per the views of the management of club that high fees paid to players will have positive impact and they will give their best. While, this thinking may not be true in all circumstances.

In present analysis, data of football players of by Newcastle United Football Club will be carried out by preparation of tools such as SAS software which perform linear regression analysis. Moreover, dashboards are prepared as well so that problem can be assessed in effective manner. The problem statement in Newcastle United Football Club is to implement and assess appropriate fees structure in accordance to player’s performance as more quantum of amount is paid but they fail to perform well and lose matches without making goals. Thus, football club is required to select players so that in next season of Premier League, all may play nicely. Thus, problem will be resolved by implementing results extracted from SAS software and dashboards as well with much ease. The business analytical tools will be helpful to Newcastle United Football Club to effectively carry out the appropriate fee structure of the players in the best possible manner. Moreover, preparation of excel dashboard would help to analyze effectually what quantum of match fees should be given to players as per their performances in the ground. It will be beneficial for football association in implementing correct structure of fees which will be on the basis of performance of players. If they do not perform well, fees should be paid low and if they make adequate goals, then fees should be paid accordingly (Newcastle United. 2018).

On the other hand, SAS software is effective business intelligence and predictive analysis tool which provides clarity regarding the data and organization may be able to draw results by implementing such data analytics tool in the best possible manner. It is quite useful tool which will help football association to easily analyze data of players and their performances and as such, results may be drawn in the aspect of these analytics, adequate fees structure can be effectively implemented. Thus, players could be paid according to the performance in the seasons. Moreover, Newcastle United Football Club may be able to implement fee structure and as such, decision can be made which players will play in the next season and which can be drop out from the squad. Thus, above problem statement could be easily by implementing these tools in effective manner.

The theoretical framework is effective way to resolve problems in effective way. In relation to this, business intelligence provides desired results. It is useful tool for making business decisions in the best possible manner. It is quite essential to analyze data that assists management in taking enhanced decisions. Various business intelligence tools are available such as Tableau, Excel with the help of such tools, dashboards can be prepared in effective manner. Furthermore, these variables can be analyzed in a better way to assist in decision-making. Apart from this, SAS software is useful tool in which is imported and by implementing cluster and regression analysis, better information can be extracted. The dashboard can be used to assess performance of players and amount of fees paid to them. This help to identify which players are performing well and as such, appropriate fee structure can be carried out. This will help to easily determine on basis of these two variables which players need to be retained and which players need to be dropped from the squad on basis of inadequate performance. In other system of analytics such as SAS, regression analysis will be done by taking regression analysis between goals done with fees paid. Tables will show how one variable will change and its impact on another variable (Krishna, 2018). Cluster method will also reflect players’ performance to be judged on parameters and as such, effective decisions can be made by Newcastle United Football Club.

Excel dashboard provides effective way of analyzing players information of Newcastle United Football Club. The information of player related to fees paid, brand value is categorized and dashboard is prepared. Moreover, number of goals, passes per match and key passes per match is taken out. It can be analyzed that highest total goals are made by Ayoze Perez and fees paid to him is 1 million which is the lowest as compared to other players. Furthermore, brand value of the player is 2. On the other hand, it can be interpreted that other players have lower performances and fees paid to them are high. Jacob Murphy has made only one goal in the recent season of premier league. While, fees paid to the player is high. This clearly shows that Newcastle United Football Club has paid high fees despite that good performance is not attained. The principle to pay higher fees and adequate performance is just wrongful thinking. Hence, it is required that performance should be taken as a priority to pay fees to players which will be justified on the players’ performance and fee structure can be implemented (Kollwitz, Dinter and Krawatzeck, 2018). Thus, it is cleared from the dashboard that football association is required to implement appropriate fee structure so that players can be paid in accordance to their performance in the best possible manner.

It can be analyzed from the value of R-Square is 0.61 which means that when change is observed in independent variable, 61 % change is observed in dependent variable. Moreover, coefficient value is 0.68 which signifies that change in brand value will cause 0.68 of change in fees. Thus, with increase in brand value, fees also maximize and hence, alternative hypothesis is accepted.

Cluster analysis

It is effective tool in which is used for grouping similar variables in effectual way. It helps to group variables which have similar pattern and distance prevails in centroid. In relation to this, it can be observed in that there is high degree of similarity between key passes, position, average passes of players. Thus, no difference is observed in aspect of passes made by players.

5. Conclusion and recommendation for implementation and use of BI and analytics solution

It can be concluded that players' performance is the key aspect which should be taken into account by Newcastle United Football Club. This is evident from the fact that football players are paid according to their individual brand value which is not good approach. The association should analyze performance and then accordingly payment shall be made. Higher amount is paid to them while, players have poor performance which is wrong approach. It is recommended that database should be prepared in which each and every match performance of players should be entered in SQL server. It will be helpful for the football association to analyze performance on daily match basis and fee structure can be justified as well. Moreover, it is recommended to change position of players so that overall performance can be enhanced. Thus, it will be beneficial for the team as problem can be resolved by such tools.
